Lazy Recap
8:01 PM: The show credits are starting, and Steve Jones strides awkwardly into the frame. The show kicks off with Kelly Clarkson performing her new song. She is wearing a banded, painted-on dress and she looks fabulous, though I think she forgot to do her hair.
8:12 PM: ZOned out. No results yet.
8:14 PM: THe final 9 are performing. The country spoke. They wanted circus themed clothing, hip hop style dancing. It’s a mess.
The act that got the lowest amount of votes will automatically go home. The next two lower ones will fight it out. Steve calls Lakoda Rayne and Drew to the stage. One is going through to next week, the other got the lowest amount of votes. Scroll back up to see what’s up.
Lakoda Rayne is going on. They’re going to stick together and live the dream, blah blah. That’s the last of the groups. I don’t necessarily think that’s a reflection on Paula, more that it’s harder for America to connect with a group. I don’t know that groups should have been part of the competition. Does that work in the UK?
Howie Madel is there plugging his new show. I might try to watch it.
Bruno Mars is singing “It Will Rain” now.
Nicole comes out with Josh Krajcik and Leroy Bell. L.A. Reid comes out with Marcus Canty, Astro, and Chris Rene. Simon comes out with Melanie Amaro and Rachel Crow. Drew is already safe. Scroll up to see what happens.
Chris Rene, Rachel Crow, Josh Krajcik are all safe, along with Drew. We are on a commercial break, waiting to find out of Marcus Canty, Leroy Bell, Melanie Amaro, and Astro will make it through, and which two will have to sing for their survival.
Marcus Canty and Leroy Bell have to sing for their place. That’s sad, but even though Marcus’s performance last night was heartfelt, he was pitchy. Leroy is good, just sort of…boring. So, who do the judges like the best? Leroy being 60 makes a difference, the judges really like that.
Marcus Canty is going first. He’s doing “You Lost Me” by Christina Aguilera. He was great.
Leroy Bell is up next. He’s doing “Don’t Let Me Down” by The Beatles. This makes it so hard for me.
This might be a night for our first deadlock. We haven’t had one of those yet, so we’re about due, don’t you think? What happens during a deadlock?
Now the judges have to pick the act to send home. It’s 8:50 PM, and we’re headed into a break, so I’m wondering if there is going to be a deadlock. Obviously L.A. will pick Marcus to stay and Nicole will pick Leroy, but Paula likes both of them. Simon, I think, likes Marcus more than he likes Leroy, but not MUCH more. This could be close, folks.
L.A. really likes both of them. Judging them based on consistency, Marcus has been consistent. Leroy has “sizzle.” L.A. is sending home Leroy Bell.
Nicole is sure that Marcus is a star. Leroy has not only proven that it’s never too late. It’s also never too late to change. He’s blossomed. Nicole is sending home Marcus Canty.
Paula loves Marcus. He has the ability to be a massive star. He didn’t deliver as much on the save song that Leroy did. Leroy really delivered. She thinks they’ll both be successful. Paula is sending home Marcus Canty.
Simon is the last word. He likes them both. He thinks Marcus is nudging ahead of Leroy, but Leroy did better tonight. He sends home Leroy, so we’re in deadlock.
They go to who got the lowest number of votes. Sheesh. Couldn’t they have done that to begin with?
The act with the lowest number of votes is Leroy. He’s going home. And he’s classy as hell about it. He’s going to be OK. He’s going to get a record deal out of this, for sure. He made it to the Top 9, that’s pretty good.
See you next week, all three of you.

Thanks for the recap, I missed it so this helps. I’d rather marcus have gone home myself, and while I’ll miss the eye candy group, they aren’t top 10 material. I see a fight between Josh (my fav) and Astro
