The X Factor Judges Paula Abdul
Paula Abdul’s career has had an amazing trajectory – Laker Girl to choreographer to the stars, to pop singer, to American Idol Judge, to host of her own TV show, and now she will be a judge on Simon Cowell’s The X Factor. Of course, there were some breaks in between, but it’s hard to keep a good woman down.
Abdul’s participation in The X Factor was announced on May 7, 2011. Since then there has been a lot of talk about her ultra-familiar relationship with Simon Cowell, and the fact that she is working on a new album. Abdul has not released a studio album since 1995′s Head Over Heels, which contained such gems as…well, who knows? She did release a single via Idol co-worker Randy Jackson in 2008 called “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow,” and another in 2009 called “I’m Just Here for the Music.”
Simon Cowell has gone on record stating that he would have postponed auditions had Abdul’s deal not closed in time. To him, it was imperative that Paula join the judges, and Cowell feared that future fans of the show would be very disappointed if she was not a part of the judges’ panel.
