The X Factor Judges Simon Cowell
Simon Cowell was born in Lambeth, England in October of 1959.
He started working in the mail room of EMI Music Publishing, where his father was an executive, when he was very young. He became an assistant to an A & R exec, and then worked his way up through the ranks to a position in music publishing. He left EMI in the 1980′s to form a company called E & S with Ellis Rich.
The company was moderately successful, but Simon left after a few years. He worked at Fanfare for eight years before he built it into an indie pop standout label. After that, Cowell moved home with his parents before he found a job in A & R at BMG.
Cowell signed some successful acts to BMG’s S Records before setting up Syco Music, which became a part of Columbia Records and BMG Music Entertainment.
With his American Idol and X Factor UK successes, along with his illustrious career in the music industry, Cowell is someone we can trust when it comes to finding good singers. Just ask Leona Lewis fans.
